These paintings are part of my “Timeless” series. I worked on them over a 6 month period from January to July 2019.
I start by creating a frame, or tray around the board and then pour acrylic paint, opalescent paints and other materials into it. Next I pour in a thick layer of liquid glass, a clear acrylic medium. Once the first layer is dry, I add several more layers of paints and liquid glass and repeat the process. Most of the paintings in this series have 5-8 layers in them, and take several weeks to complete.
My work has always been inspired by nature and science, and how they relate to the basic laws of aesthetics. Using energy and chemistry to create, has always been my technique. This new technique has opened up new possibilities and directions to explore.
