Biography

Gary Barnett - Artist
Gary Barnett

Gary’s lifelong passion for art began with drawing at an early age, sparking a journey that would lead him to study fine art and graphic design in college and university during the 1970s. After which, he embarked on a successful career in abstract painting, developing a unique style that caught the attention of art galleries across Toronto, Kitchener, and the surrounding area.

For 25 years, Gary explored his creative side as a graphic designer and website developer, but he never lost his love for painting. In recent years, he has returned to his artistic roots, driven by a desire to create natural events on the canvas in a completely organic way, using natural forces to control the paint as opposed to brushes or other traditional painting tools.

During his time as a member of the Art District Gallery Co-operative in Kitchener from 2016 to 2017, Gary continued to refine his technique and hone his artistic voice. Since relocating to the Kingston Ontario area in the summer of 2017, he has become an active member of the Greater Napanee Area Arts Association, and the Belleville Art Association, participating in local exhibitions and events.

Today, Gary continues to create and share his unique vision through his paintings, which can be found in galleries throughout the region. Through his work, he invites viewers to explore the beauty and complexity of the natural world and to appreciate the power of art to transform our perceptions of the world around us.
